Hvítdagsfjörður Ep - ecological, sound & philosophical concepts:

Hvítdagsfjörður means 'the white dawn fjords’. It is a two piece audio painting inspired by the darkless nights of Icelandic summers, recorded as a one take recording in the quiet evenings of the eastern Icelandic fjords in June 2018. This work was developed at the Fish Factory creative centre in Stöðvarfjörður during a one month residency.

During the residency I explored different dimensions merging the mediums of live performance and performance art. Willing to explore the power of the Heart organ through its use as a kind of oscillator for electromagnetic fields. Based on the readings of Stephen Bhuner's "Secret teachings of plants: the intelligence of the heart in the direct perception of nature". Connecting deeply with the vivid nature and landscape. The process involved creating my own form of rituals with installations of self made mandala like altars with materials collected from nature such as quartz crystals found on the beach, dried out seaweed, driftwood, water and a collection of personal items collected over years as intimate personal symbols. The process also involved finding a bond with the Earth element and planet through meditations and rituals for world peace as an invocation for healing not only for the planet and its beings but through that action the healing of oneself as well. Those two recordings are thus an imprint of this process coming as a witness and audio photograph of the process. The white nights of Iceland manifesting the light prevailing inside myself at the time. Revealing a unique feeling in the middle of the night when it's still light, the night time atmosphere still being experienced but from a totally different feeling.

Blue Twenty-Two ongoing project:

This two track vocal ambient ep is a part of a series of sound creations started as the ‘songs from above’ first released as Blue Twenty-Two: Wild Anima on Blue Tapes cassette label (UK) in August 2016. The tape release of the original vocal sound collection inspired the work to become a multilayered dimensional on going sound project exploring the bare medium of the voice as an instrument and its many possibilities through various processing and sound manipulation.
The original ‘songs from above’ being recorded as a one take recording saw themselves travel through a reinterpretation through the track Selene a collaboration with French ambient dub producer Natse. To be completely recomposed and rearranged as a remix project by various sound artists as a multi dimensional fractal sonic environment. To finally become a two piece vocal ambient audio tapestry. The sounds coming back to just being bare vocal lines echoing the icelandic landscape as a response to the first call of the songs from above. Becoming almost like the songs from below. An evocation of the old Egyptian concept “as above so below”. Implying the polarities matter can go through in its existence.

In this process there was no looping involved. It is as if the voice and spirit expressed through the first call has found a way out of eternal circling. That it had to go through the ritual lunar landscapes of Selene merging with someone else’s vision and then be transformed and remolded as some kind of alchemical process through the remixes from above. To then finally find a way out to freedom and vastness with the darkless nights of icelandic summers. Being sent back to the original piece like a mirror from the Arctic sea to the Himalayan hilltops. Upper dimensions of the edges of the Earth, the space in between earth and sky.

This project is also exploring the way of how the piece and the release process influence each other. Researching the non linearity of releasing music, creating it and the remixing process. How each step can influence the next or the previous. The label being a medium for the art to unfold, the creation being left to the unknown to be created, with its own development and processing. Through time and non linearity. Letting go of complete control over its shape through the medium of remixing. To form a sonical sculpture to be experienced not in a gallery but in the setting that pleases the listener in an intimate environment. Like any experiment this is meant to expand ideas and challenge the ways things are done already.

Each part of the process being able to stand of its own and be enjoyed separately but that put altogether all become a complete piece meant as an environment for wander over multi dimensional realities and non linear processing.
